Murray Anderson’s solo album teaser

Our very own Murray Anderson has been crafting a solo album during lockdown! He’s condensed the nine tracks into a two-minute teaser, which you can listen to on Bandcamp now: https://murrayanderson.bandcamp.com/track/ambient-light-teaser

In his own words: “Over the last 30 plus years, I’ve recorded thousands of tracks for other people, and hundreds of my compositions have been used in films and on TV. In the back of my mind, I always had the idea that I would one day record an album of my own music, completely free of being commissioned to write in a particular style, or for a particular audience.

Of course, I presumed I would record at my workplace of the last thirty years, Milestone Studios, because it has great-sounding rooms, excellent equipment, highly-skilled engineers, etc. And I presumed that I would ask some of the wonderful musicians I have worked with to play on the album.
Covid and the lockdown changed that, and over the last weeks I recorded nine tracks at home, using the equipment in the photo – a ten year old computer, a fifteen year old audio interface, a 49-key synth, and a guitar. My daughter Claire played bass remotely and emailed me the bass parts, and I played the rest. My friend and fellow engineer Jethro Harris is horrified that I am not taking advantage of having access to a state-of-the-art studio, the great musicians in Cape Town, and his engineering skills, but I am not convinced…

I’ve put a teaser on Bandcamp, which condenses 10 or 15 seconds of each track into a two minute medley. Please have a listen, and let me know if you agree that it’s fine as it is!”
